The ORCA
THe Orca Inn was built in the 1930's in what was formerly the "Chinatown" of Alert Bay. Wong Toy had his hardware store here where many older residents remember buying their first shoes! The other building was the Royal Cafe. Both buildings were combined the form the Orca Inn as it now stands. During the heydays of the fishing industry and before the Island highway was built Alert Bay had many times its present population. There were five bars in town with five bands playing in those bars!

We often have live music in our pub. Our house band trio (fiddle, guitar, vocals and bass) is called "The Orcastra"

We enjoyed the views, cold beers and delightful converstions with the owner, a kinda-retired dentist who understandably loves and lives this cozy bar and cool entertainment venue. The location was amazing. Fantastic views from the large sitting room window. Spent hours just looking at the beautiful scenery in the changing light. Saw seals and sea otters swimming right past the inn. Warm welcome from Larry and really enjoyed being able to spend one evening listening to live music in the Orca Pub with its great atmosphere. . Thought the lead singer was familiar! Larry is great at multi tasking.★★★★★
